Moxibustion
Moxa, chinese mugwort, is a healing modality that tonifies the spleen, abdomen and uterus and moves fluids and blood, making it a wonderful medicine for the postpartum period to aid in healing of the pelvic bowl and returning to the pre-pregnancy state. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is said to assist in the ‘Closing of the Golden Gate (pelvis)’ after childbirth.
This treatment is done by moving a hot moxa stick over the abdomen or low back. Sessions range from 40-60 minutes.
-
Closing of the Bones
Closing of the Bones is a traditional ceremony that is practiced around the entire world. It is grounding and brings one back into their body after the opening and expansion of pregnancy and childbirth. It is a physical closing of the pelvis and drawing in of the body as well as a grounding ceremony that creates an opportunity for closure. It is often offered at the end of the six week postpartum period as an honouring of the end of a Rite of Passage.
Long pieces of fabric are wrapped around each part of the body, starting with the head and then pulled in opposite directions to draw everything towards the center of the body.
-
Cesarian Scar Remediation & Castor Oil Detoxification
Castor Oil is a potent anti-inflammatory, deeply penetrating, and breaks up scar tissue and adhesions, making it an excellent tool in healing vaginal and c-section scar tissue. It also activates the lymphatic system, which aids the body in the absorption of nutritional fats. Castor oil can pull toxins from the intestinal tract and extracellular spaces and aid in regulating mood. This treatment typically begins with a belly (&/or) cesarian scar massage and is followed by placing a castor pack on the abdomen with heat for 25-45 minutes. This treatment is well paired with a meditation or birth story session or closing ceremony and followed by a bath or shower.
-
Bodywork
Massages range in length of time as well as technique and include belly massage & Abhyanga massage. Bodywork is a critical aid in the healing process of the body during the postpartum period and all of the massage techniques aid in stimulating lymphatic flow in the body, returning organs to pre-pregnancy state and mood/hormone regulation. Abhyanga massage is typically followed by a warm shower or bath to help absorb the oils into the skin and can be taught as a self-practice.
Baby Massage also available.

Elimination Communication Guidance & Support
Elimination Communication (EC) is a pottying technique that can be introduced as soon as baby is born. Children are born with innate signals to let us know what they need and bathrooming is no exception. There are many ways to integrate ECing into your lifestyle and I can help you navigate what that may look like.
